Dompu, February 6, 2025 — PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM) organized a blood donation event to commemorate the 2025 National Occupational Safety and Health Month (BK3N). The event, held at the Hu’u Site in collaboration with RSUD Dompu, successfully collected 63 bags of blood to be distributed to those in need.
STM employees and business partner contractors actively participated in this activity. Before donating, prospective donors underwent health screenings, including blood pressure checks, hemoglobin (Hb) level tests, and a review of their medication history. As a result, 63 individuals were deemed eligible to donate blood.
Acting Head of Mining Engineering (Pj KTT) of STM, Yek Sahil, expressed his appreciation for the participants’ enthusiasm. “The demand for blood in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is always high, and the availability of stock does not always meet the need. This donation is very helpful for people in need, especially with the current rise in dengue fever cases,” he stated.
STM Site Coordinator, Muhammad Asri, who also donated his blood, shared his pride in contributing. “Besides being beneficial for others, blood donation is also good for maintaining the donor’s health. This is a regular activity carried out by STM during the National OSH Month and is always welcomed enthusiastically by employees and business partners,” he said.
The event involved 10 staff members from the RSUD Dompu Blood Transfusion Unit, led directly by the Head of the Unit, Eka Susilawati. After collection, the blood was immediately transported to RSUD Dompu for further screening. Blood deemed healthy will be distributed to patients in need.
Of the total 63 bags of blood collected, there were 11 bags of type A, 24 bags of type B, 22 bags of type O, and 6 bags of type AB. “We will conduct additional screenings before distributing the blood to ensure its safety,” explained Eka.
Through this initiative, STM continues its support for improving public health. The blood donation is expected to benefit the community, especially amid the increasing cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in West Nusa Tenggara Province. Blood transfusions are crucial for patients with severe complications such as heavy bleeding or dengue shock.
