Dompu, January 22, 2025— PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting community safety and health through the Safety Goes to School program at SMAN 1 Pajo, Dompu Regency, on Wednesday (22/1). This outreach initiative was organized by the Health, Safety, and Risk (HSR) Department as part of the 2025 National Occupational Safety and Health Month (BK3N) commemoration. The key topics highlighted in this session focused on protecting health from the dangers of Narcotics, Psychotropics, and Addictive Substances (NAPZA), as well as promoting road safety awareness.

The session on the dangers of NAPZA was delivered by dr. Michael Kandowangko from International SOS, who serves in STM’s operational area. He explained the negative impacts of NAPZA use on physical and mental health, as well as how these substances can jeopardize the future of young generations. Using an interactive, case study-based approach, students were encouraged to understand the real risks of drug abuse and the critical role they play in preventing the circulation of illegal substances in their schools and communities.

In addition to dr. Michael, Abdul Farid from the HSR team delivered a presentation on road safety. He explained the importance of safe driving practices to the students, including the proper use of helmets and the dangers of driving in an unstable physical condition. This session was made even more engaging with the distribution of helmets as prizes for students who actively participated and answered questions correctly.

The Principal of SMAN 1 Pajo, Haeril Alimin, expressed his appreciation to STM for bringing this educational program to their school. According to him, the activity helps enhance students’ understanding of the importance of maintaining safety and health in their daily lives. “We are grateful that our school was chosen as the venue for Safety Goes to School. We hope our students will gain a deeper understanding of adolescent health, particularly regarding NAPZA, as well as road safety,” he said.

STM firmly believes that the safety and health of the community are collective responsibilities shared by all levels of society. By providing early education, the company hopes to foster a generation that is more aware of the importance of personal and environmental safety—not just within the school setting, but also in the broader community.
