Dompu, January 13, 2025 – PT Sumbawa Timur Mining (STM) has officially commenced the handover of the Village Participation Program (PPD) to eight villages in Hu’u District and two villages in Pajo District, all located in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB). The allocated budget for the 2024 PPD amounts to approximately IDR 1.83 billion, focusing on healthcare, economic development, and education.
The PPD fund serves as PT STM’s support for the Village Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMDes), which is determined through village deliberations. Each village has its own priority programs. For instance, Cempi Jaya Village has agreed to use the PPD funds for equipping posyandu (integrated health service posts), revitalizing early childhood education centers (PAUD), constructing public toilets, and building retaining walls (bronjong). The entire PPD implementation will be carried out by professional partners agreed upon by PT STM and the village government.
At the PPD handover event in Hu’u Village (January 13), PT STM’s Community Development Team, Vovia Witni, expressed hope that this support would be utilized optimally for its intended purposes. She emphasized the importance of maintaining and managing the assistance collectively. “For recipients of mini kiosk aid, for example, please use it to run a business and improve your family’s economy. If it is not utilized, we will reallocate it to other residents who need it more,” she stated.
Regarding group-based assistance, Witni mentioned that PT STM and the village government would establish agreements on ownership status to prevent individual claims. “This category of support is intended for group benefits. We would be delighted if the provided assistance could be sustainably beneficial to the community,” she explained.
The Secretary of Hu’u Village, Johan, welcomed PT STM’s support through the 2024 PPD. He acknowledged that STM’s contributions extend beyond PPD, encompassing various other community programs. He encouraged residents to make wise use of this support. “As beneficiaries, let’s maximize this assistance to gain greater benefits for economic improvement and human resource development,” he urged.
He also reaffirmed Hu’u Village’s commitment to supporting PT STM’s activities. He noted that PT STM’s presence has significantly contributed to the local community and infrastructure development in Hu’u District, leading to noticeable economic growth, especially through job creation. “As Hu’u residents, we have a responsibility to safeguard this investment so it can continue to grow. After all, we are the ones who will feel its impact,” Johan emphasized.
Meanwhile, Jala Village Head, Sadam Husain, expressed appreciation for PT STM’s support in community development through PPD. “There are many programs we have agreed upon and funded through the 2024 PPD, including the procurement of a three-wheeled motorbike for waste transportation. We will make full use of this assistance and maintain it properly,” said Sadam.
The PPD handover is carried out in stages for each recipient village. All support provided by PT STM under PPD is not given in cash, but rather through agreed-upon programs. PT STM, together with the village government, oversees the program implementation to ensure long-term benefits for the community.
